We are delighted to be taking EarthView to the school where one of our team members spent most of her teaching career. Tantasqua is where Ms. Rosalie Sokol became a geography teacher, so it is a very exciting place to visit as the first year of the EarthView program nears its conclusion. About 250 Tantasqua students will have been added to the more than 8,000 students reached by Project EarthView in its inaugural year.

It was great seeing Mrs. Sokol, the "Globe Lady" today.

Being inside that globe was like being inside the world, looking out on everything. Inside of it, everything was mirrored and it gave a different perspective of the earth. the earth is a spectacular thing and this made me realize it!
ReplyDeleteBeing inside the globe was an amazing and informative experience. We were enjoyed when we went inside and learned sooooo much. There were many quick and exciting facts that we learned. All and all it was a great experience!!

It was really cool being inside the blow-up globe which gave me a new perspective on the Earth as we know it. It was mind-boggling to see how large the Pacific Ocean and The Amazon Jungle were!!!!!!!! :)

Thankyou for coming to our school. The earth globe was awesome. It was cool because it was twenty feet tall. I learned that Hawaii slides three inches closer to Japan every year. It will eventually hit Japan. Thankyou Mrs. Sokel and Professor James.

The globe made me dizzy because, if you look up it makes you feel off balance. Thank you Mrs. Sokel and Professor James.

There was two things I found amazing about the earth globe. First thing is there is only two of them in the world and one was at Tantasqua! The second thing was that it is hand painted which I found was very amazing! I think it would be great if the earth globe could visit every school in the U.S.

Thank you Mrs.Sokal for bringing the earthgobe to our school. I have had you for a sub before and you have talked about it but being inside it for myself was really amazing. My favorite fact about the Earthglobe is that the man who built it got a masters degree in packageing for building it. Thank you for bringing this to our school and I hope that you can share this wonder with many many more schools and kids.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mrs.Sokal,
Sam Hunter, Grade 7
Mrs. Solkel really taught us a lot about the earth that I didn't know. The globe was amazing. I found it hard to believe that it was hand painted because it's so detailed!!! I'm glad that they came to our school! Thank you!

The earth view globe was great! It was intersting to know that there are only two of them in the entire world and they are both hand painted. One thing I learned while inside the earth globe is that Hawaii is sliding towards Japan about 3 inches a year.Thank you Mrs.Sokel, Mr.Sokel, and Proffesor James for coming to our school and showing us this globe!

I thought that the globe was so cool and fun to go in. My favorite to things were that there were only 2 of those amazing hand painted globes, and that Hawaii moves 3 inches away from the USA every year. So thanks Mr. and Mrs.Sokel and Proffesor James for bringing the globe to our school.

Mrs.sokal taught us a lot about the world. They should make more and show all the schools in america! How did they hand paint that though?! It looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteBeing inside the globe was amazing! Seeing the earth from a different prospective really made me look at globes a whole different way.

I am so happy and proud that Tantasqua students are taking the time to reflect on their experience in EarthView. It is much more meaningful when you follow-up on an activity you enjoyed. It's also good for the EarthView team to consider what you think is significant knowledge gained. The "wow factor" for me is the Pacific Rim view inside the Globe. There is no better place to observe the "Ring of Fire" other than being there in person.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about Hawaii. It will be with us during your lifetime. It's hard for us to think about the earth's lifetime in terms we can comprehend. But it's amazing to consider. That's what is awesome about EarthView! The possibilities are great topics of conversation.
"Globelady" also wants to thank the staff for all their help last Thursday. The water was much appreciated as was lunch. Thanks also Chris for finding the bell we use to alert me that it's time to wrap up the presentation. We left it behind when we left Tantasqua. Thanks also to all my colleagues at Tantasqua who took the time to visit EarthView. It was great to show it off to you. It was a very enjoyable day.
"Globelady" Mrs. Sokol
I think it was a magnificint way to learn about the world. I liked it how you had to think about it a diffrent perspective. I think it would be good if it could visit all the schools in Tantasqua region.
ReplyDeleteThank you,
Tyler Burnham
It was very nice seeing mrs. sokol as the globe lady she is a very nice theacher and it was a very fun experience in the globe. It sort of confused me with the world in a diffrent point of view It would be cool if all schools could do it like we did

We learned so much from being inside the globe!! I had never really been able to appreciate how big the Pacific Ocean is compared to the rest of the oceans and bodies of land. We had a great time learning about how the tectonic plates move and how islands are formed through volcanic eruptions. We got to see so much in the amazing detail, too! Thank you, Mrs. Sokol and Professor James!

I am amazed to have seen the world inside out. It is very interesting- the world; things such as how Hawii moves 3 inche away from the mainland USA each year.
ReplyDeleteThank you

I thought that the globe was very cool, I don't think I ever seen anything like it before, and I think the artist who panted it did a great job.
ReplyDeleteKristen
I agree with ross, seeing the world inside out is pretty amazing. Everythings is backwards, and it makes it easy to see how vast the Pacific Ocean is. It's almost everywhere!
